Cosmic Commando is a game in early stage of developement set in a space opera setting.
You're a brave cosmic commando who fights forces of bloodthirsty syndicate ruled by mysterious Lady Raven.

So far, the game focuses on tactical positioning. It is governed by simple rules, but gameplay is not too shallow.

In release v0.2 Cosmic Commando became a fully structured game with a considerable degree of polish for such an early version. It features a nonstandard approach to advancement: to win, the player has to complete three preliminary missions first (in any sequence, refreshing to pristine status after each successful quest) before attempting to beat the final level, which has varying difficulty depending on player's decisions earlier (after each mission the player has the option to make the final level - and only it - easier. Forgoing this opportunity increases the player's final score).

Since release v0.3 Cosmic Commando features an optional mode that adds time limit to every turn (like Tetris), giving the base game an action game feel and increased difficulty. The player's efforts are scored higher in this mode than in the turn-based one.
Also, CosCom 0.3 features a new mission, Asteroid Belt Chase, in which the player character must pursue a pirate in zero gravity asteroid field. Instead of normal movement the player controls Cosmic Commando's acceleration and must avoid smashing into asteroids at high speed while trying to catch up to their quarry.

Planned features:
* character customization
* cover-based shooting mechanics

Screenshots from the game are available here:

Nightmare Tyrant is a 7 Day Roguelike game written for the 2013 7DRL Challenge set in a dark fantasy setting.
You play the local hero, who must save his town from an insidious threat, a Nightmare Tyrant, which lurks in the dreams of the townsfolk and will consume their souls lest it is stopped. To accomplish that, your character will undertake up to five quests to weaken and finally destroy the tyrant. The game is non-linear - you can attempt to complete the quests in any order. There's no character advancement - instead, with each completed quest, the final level becomes easier. It can be attempted at any time, including right away. Beating it early increases the final score.

This roguelike was mainly intended as a test/showcase of an approach in which a roguelike is challenging without being also punishing. Apart from that, a multidimensional action resolution system makes both the player's and enemy attacks more interesting than the traditional "hit and roll damage" or "miss", but the potential of such a mechanic is far from fully tapped here.

There are two versions of the game available - original 7DRL version and Nightmare Tyrant Gold, which is a bugfixed and polished update of the 7DRL. You can download both from:
download

The game has been created by modding my (zasvid's) other roguelike: Cosmic Commando
Travel
There is an airport in Poznań, POZ, which has connections to Warsaw,
Munich, Frankfurt and Duesseldorf. Unfortunately all the flights have to
go through one of those cities. You can check the available routes at
http://www.lot.com/pl/pl/web/newlot/routemap
From the airport you can take one of the buses right into the city center.

There are also trains, including the Eurocity train. You can check your
connections at http://rozklad-pkp.pl/bin/query.exe/en?
(You want the "Poznań Główny", main station.)

The cheapest route for most of the world would be probably to fly to Berlin and then take a train to Poznań from there.

You can also get direct flights to Poznan from many countries: http://www.airport-poznan.com.pl/en/flight-connections/destination-map From London flights from Luton or Stanstead with Ryanair or Wizz Air are very cheap. Skyscanner.net is very handy for checking routes and prices.

Money
The official currency in Poland is polish złoty (PLN) and it's the only currency widely used and accepted in shops (usually you can't pay in euros or dollars). There is usually no problem using credit and debit cards, but cheques are unheard of here. Currency exchange is possible in specialized places labeled "Kantor", but you can probably also just use the ATMs (at a worse exchange rate). [Debatable, some kantors rip you off royaly. In Prague (Czech Rep) I had better exchange rates at ATMs with polish debit card than in kantors. Probably same in Poland -- Michał Walczak]

Poland is a relatively inexpensive country to live in (compared to Germany, for example). Food, transportation and lodging are rather cheap.

Accommodation
As for the accomodation, there all sorts of hostels and hotels. I'm
planning on getting a venue right in the city center, so it should be very
close to a lot of good places.

Poznań is a relatively small city, and we will be mostly in the city
center, where you can reach most places by foot. We also have a pretty
good tram and bus network, you can check information about it at
http://www.mpk.poznan.pl/?lng=en

More information about the city: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozna%C5%84

Booking.com lets you compare prices and ratings for hotels in Poznan. Ikar Hotel seems like a good budget option in the centre, includes breakfast and wifi at ~$45 a night and it isn't horrible. For the very budget conscious Traffic Hostel is around $10 a night in a 6-bed dorm.

Planned features:
* optional action mode that adds real time pressure to turn based gaming (think Tetris)
* character customization
* cover-based shooting mechanics

The game has been created by modding my (zasvid's) other roguelike: Cosmic Commando

Any comments and/or bug reports are welcome! Post them to Nightmare Tyrant issue tracker via form found at:

Cosmic Commando is a game in early stage of developement set in a space opera setting.
You're a brave cosmic commando who fights forces of bloodthirsty syndicate ruled by mysterious Lady Raven.
For now the commando (armed with several different weapons) can walk around a nondescript dungeon and fight some baddies.
Features planned for the future include: a nonstandard approach to advancement in the game; optional action mode that adds real time pressure to turn based gaming (think Tetris); character customization; cover-based shooting mechanics.

You can download the game from here:
Any suggestions for the future releases and/or bug reports are welcome! Send them to: zasvid at gee mail dot com.
