Maybe some quote from Genesis could be used as a motto here. It is probably a bad idea to start with LOS and end with PC, but maybe it is a good idea to spend the seventh day on testing and generally having fun.

There is also 7HRL, which is a rogue-like game made in 7 hours or less. KING is one of them. Can you mention that? --Zzo38 04:48, 15 July 2008 (CEST)

It's already February, and no plans of a 7drl challenge for 2011? Or are we still using the newsgroup for planning? I haven't followed newsgroups lately; they're just so awkward to access these days! I know newsgroups are nice "for old times sake" since roguelikes are retro to begin with, but perhaps we could be a bit more flexible with the rules for announcements and planning of the challenge! I agree that the newgroups are pretty hard to use: many of them are plagued by incessant spam. This wiki is probably a better place to plan things like a 7DRL challenge.
I suggest March 5–12 as the official challenge date for this year. That would give us a bit of time to get organised. —Thomas Larsen 01:09, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
I checked on Google Groups and they have a new interface with much better spam filtering with the old one... looks like Mar 5-13 has been chosen already! Ed 13:52, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Though arguably a deprecated way of modern communication, the RGRD is still the primary source of communication in regards to setting up times and voting for 7DRL respectfully each year. It will remain this way until we, as a community, can agree on a viable alternative. 7DRL timeframes should, in my opinion, by on the main page of roguebasin the SECOND they are set forth though. This is year is March 5-13. Nathaniel Inman 22:36, 4 March 2011 (CST)

Is there a reason TOC was turned off, there are beginning to be quite a few headings, perhaps it would actually help? Nathaniel Inman 23:06, 4 March 2011 (CST)

"The author is encouraged not to release another version"? Why is this? As long as the 7DRL is a complete game in itself, what's wrong with providing updates later? Some well-known roguelikes (e.g. Quadropus Rampage) evolved from 7DRLs! Ed (talk) 16:32, 17 February 2014 (CET)
