Prototype is intended to be an ambitious science fiction roguelike in space opera mode. Ultimately, I want to satisfy my simulationist urges by creating a living world in which open-ended play is possible, while providing both for goals to provide scoring and structure to play in an epic mode and pre-set scenarios, which allow a more focused and traditional roguelike experience. However, it will probably be a few years yet before I'm satisfied enough with Gumband and Dangband to make any serious attempt at creating even a crude beginning to Prototype development.
