For convenience I am not including 7DRL or similar quicky roguelikes (that are well covered elsewhere anyway).  Also only including those where you can download the game (preferably have a home page and source as well).

: Cracks and Crevices is alphabetised down in the S's, i'd move it but I'd have to alter all the alternate line colouring which I didnt want to mess with such an update touching every line..... Stu 15:12, 19 March 2009 (CET)

:: Thanks.  I wouldn't worry too much about the shading. There'll probably be a few more to be added yet. PaulBlay

* Alpha games are only included if they have a somewhat playable download.
::: Shame we can't have this kind of thing automated. When a new release is made, so many pages need to be touched. Stu 16:32, 19 March 2009 (CET)

:::: Surely there's an easier way?  Does the wiki formatting allow borders in tables?  That way we could have the grey background with a white border, or something similarOtherwise we should just strip the different colours - far too hard to maintain as it is. ::::::: It looks like the IRLDB has something similar to this; maybe we can use that instead of this page. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to automatically update. Nathan Stoddard 21:07, 20 March 2009 (CET)
:::::::: I used the IRLDB as one of the sources.  It is far from complete (although it obviously has some technical advantages).  By including just 2008 onwards I cut down the task to a (just) manageable level.  I would not like to have the job of collating equivalent material for other years. PaulBlay
::::::::: Well at some point we should maybe move out 2008 to a separate article and have "recent" as only 2009. Darren Grey

Concept of page

This is specifically to be a handy reference to playable, new and recently updated Roguelike (and vaguely roguelike ;-) games.

 • 7DRL games are excluded unless they continue to be updated after the initial 7 days. This is to avoid them crowding out others in the list.
 • Alpha games are only included if they have a somewhat playable download.
 • No download available means no listing.

IRLDB

Having checked out IRLDB in more detail, there are only three problems I can see with it.

 • No update since 2008 Aug 22
 • Only contains data from games included in RogueBasin
 • Only contains data given in templates used in RogueBasin (e.g. Angband template has no language information).

(Correct me if I'm wrong). If these flaws are corrected then it might well be best to replace this page (and probably a few others) with output from IRLDB. PaulBlay

Colour coding

How about colorcoding the background according to release status. Red = Alpha / Yellow = Beta / Green = Stable. (Well, have to see what it looks like first ;-) PaulBlay

Wiki table bug

Note that there is an intermittent glitch in the wiki table system that affects this article (see above for example). If the display appears strange after you edit details in a row this is why. I have found no real work around, other than removing the

|| style="float:right" |

before the alpha status tag in the affected line. PaulBlay

After I made a few changes, it looks right on my computer. Does it still look wrong on yours? Nathan Stoddard 02:58, 9 April 2009 (CEST)
Yeah, it looks fine now. It doesn't happen every time and it doesn't happen to the same line every time (or to the line you edit). I'm just warning people in case it does happen. PaulBlay
Just to note that this display bug disappears on refresh it (so far) only appears on initial load of the page. (???). Probably nothing to be done about it unless this wiki goes to a more recent Wiki version. PaulBlay

Add authors column

Why not to add column of authors? --Sindikat 10:16, 20 May 2009 (CEST)

Basically because the table is wide enough already. People can see the author on the RogueBasin page for the game or on the game's website (both linked from the table). You can see a table with author name at the IRLDB if you want. PaulBlay
