I'd rather see articles automatically included in this site requiring explicit removal. Some people dissappear off the net, if we cant track them down they cant agree to add their content.
I'd rather remove it when asked to than loose it forever... Stu 20:11, 1 May 2008 (CEST)
That is exactly my feelings now. I can find most of them after some googling and other searching around, but there are some that already seem lost. I'm putting them all here. If the admin doesn't like having them here, I'll host them on my own site at my own risk. Almost done taking a census of what articles are still findable. Duerig 20:19, 1 May 2008 (CEST)
I am the author of "Direct screen output" article. If you read it then you will notice that I am signed there. Back ago I also participated in moving articles from DungeonDweller to RogueBasin. My decision was to leave out this article on purpose. It was still useful back then but nowadays it is not just junk - it is actually harmful. It advocates coding only for DOS platform and doing it in a very unportable way. Sure, it beats many ways of screen output with great speed but now it is hardly important. There exist many libraries that handle the thing well enough and in portable manner. Thus, I refuse to give permission to copy it. Also I ask you to remove the article from archives. –Michal BielinskiTalk 20:41, 8 May 2008 (CEST)
- Thanks for responding! I have removed the article as you requested. Moving these articles to the archive is about trying to make sure that we can actually make a decision about whether they are useful enough to keep. The alternative is letting them fade away, the good and the bad alike. Duerig 02:59, 9 May 2008 (CEST)
