The City RL is a roguelike set in the year 2080 within the ghetto island of Manhattan, New York. It uses the setting and mechanics of Vajra Enterprises' Fates Worse Than Death RPG (with the knowledge of its creator, Brian St. Claire-King), featuring life in the City with all its danger and drama.

Speculation, Rumors, and Lies, Fed to You From the Developers

"If you really want to get a general idea of the whole setting and how deep this is gonna be, check out the free version of FWTD, because everything that that talks about is likely going to be in the game eventually, hopefully. My idea was that the City would be generated the first time you start up the game, and, ala Dwarf Fortress, is saved so that you can create a new character after your old one dies (or while the old is still living?) and play in the same city, and come back to familiar locations and people. I'm also looking into the history system DF used, was thinking we'd use something similar for City Knowledge, although focusing more on major people and events than arbitrary locations. This would tie in with what I mentioned a few sentences up, allowing new characters to witness or hear about events set in motion by previous characters. Of course, this is all up in the air until we even make so much as a basic roguelike." --Czolgosz 11:18, 16 August 2007 (CEST)
