Bot recent changes blocking
If you hide bots on the recent changes, this user is not filtered out. Which makes the recent changes list a bit unusable right now. Not sure who I should contact about it so I'm just leaving a message here. --Soyweiser (talk) 17:32, 29 August 2013 (CEST)
- I've found that hiding patrolled edits works, but you'd need to be an admin to do that. :( I'll see what I can do, though. --Lethosor (talk) 21:26, 29 August 2013 (CEST)
- Selecting "Group changes by page in recent changes and watchlist (requires JavaScript)" under "my preferences->Recent Changes" helps. I didn't realise hiding patrolled edits does such a good job - thanks Lethosor.-Muscles (talk) 22:08, 29 August 2013 (CEST)
- I can't believe I didn't notice that option before, but it actually works. Thanks! However, it still includes the user creations/block log in the total edit count, which means you'd have to set the limit to 250 or 500 to see at least 50 actual changes. This is more of a MediaWiki functionality issue — I might be able to find/create an extension to hide these logs from the recent changes (or there might be a setting that I haven't run across yet). --Lethosor (talk) 23:51, 29 August 2013 (CEST)
Found a setting: $wgNewUserLog. This requires access to the wiki's configuration files, but it disables the user creation log entirely. This might be a workable solution, as long as the filters keep the spam in check as well. --Lethosor (talk) 04:23, 20 September 2013 (CEST)
