Would you consider renaming/moving "Horror in Roguelike Games, Part 1 : Gore" to "Gore in Roguelike Games"? It would make the article easier to remember and include as a link. I've moved "Horror in Roguelike Games" to "Horror in Roguelike Games", and would like to have horror2 moved to a similarly descriptive title. I am placing this note on all 5 sysops talk pages 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 in the hope that some site improvements can be made. (As it appears that only sysops can do what is necessary.)
When I first found the RogueBasin wiki, I was shocked that there wasn't any sort of Help section to assist new users and guide them. (The page hasn't existed since May 30, 2005(!!!), but has been visited almost 3,300 times!) I was also surprised that unless one knew from previous wiki experience where to look, finding out who was in charge (who the sysops/admins were) wasn't possible. The Community Portal page also currently redirects to the talk page, which removes the opportunity for some community-building and direction as well. It is clear to me that roguelikes have some serious fans and some dedicated programmers, and I'm just concerned that the wiki seems to have been left to sit and has gone fairly stagnant.
Currently on User:R2's talk page there is a discussion about date formatting. No standard has been set, and probably this would have been better discussed in the Community Portal, but because of the small number of daily edits, people seem to have found the discussion all right. The problem is that I think everyone in the discussion has their own preference, and there really isn't enough editor presence to come up with a consensus. And no sysop has dropped by, either. Which possibly would help, because someone has to know what the purpose of the site is supposed to be, which might help in some of the decision-making going on. - Kiefer 06:00, 25 July 2008 (CEST) |

Spam
That span is really annoying, that's right...
I think wiki admins are able to block an IP adress. Problem is: I don't know who are the admins on this wiki.

The tavern
I've created the tavern, a place to chat a bit on this wiki. Since you're quite the only other currently active person, I thought I had to let you know. :) — Poulpy 20:03, 27 May 2005 (CEST)
Templates
Uh, this is surely a stupid question, but could you tell me (or redirect me to a manual) how to use and what for are those templates? :-| --Kisielewicz 05:00, 21 Sep 2005 (CEST)
- It definitely isn't. The strange ones that I made can be deleted. There's a trick in a newer version of mediawiki that lets you make certain parameters in a template optional. For example, in the gamesinfo infobox, if someone chooses to, say, not enter the "released" param, the 3 or 4 templates would do weird trickery, and exclude the "released" row altogether (right now it would leave it in and give you some thing like {Template:Released} in place of the missing param). For the other (working) templates that I made, I'll write something up.
Please, mark somehow which ones should be deleted, and I'll delete them. --Kisielewicz 05:21, 21 Sep 2005 (CEST)
- Thanks - see category:delete –MT 05:30, 21 Sep 2005 (CEST)
I should also mention that I enjoyed playing DoomRL. DiabloRL was good also. I did find a bug (in DiabloRL) where an invisible/walk-throughable and immobile version of some of the monsters would come up. –MT 05:20, 21 Sep 2005 (CEST)
- Are you able to reproduce it? A couple of people made me recently wonder wether to ressurect DiabloRL and make a fullblown roguelike out of it...--Kisielewicz 05:23, 21 Sep 2005 (CEST)
