:The original intent behind the page was to list those with specific major influences, not be a comprehensive list of every influence for every game, which just gets complicated and can indeed be found on individual game pages. It's to show those which are clearly *primarily* based on a specific IP, and facilitate searching for them via a single IP-first list, since nothing like that existed before this page but it's a fairly common question in the community. --Kyzrati (talk) 13:23, 19 August 2023 (UTC) | :The original intent behind the page was to list those with specific major influences, not be a comprehensive list of every influence for every game, which just gets complicated and can indeed be found on individual game pages. ::That makes sense. In that case I might consider splitting list items to repeat IP's while making sure there are no duplicate roguelikes, or maybe not, Javelin seems difficult to sort at the moment. --HexDecimal (talk) 13:38, 19 August 2023 (UTC) | ::That makes sense. :::Oh right I forgot about Javelin, that one did always bother me xD. But the list used to be shorter anyway, too. It almost feels like we could simply have a single "D&D/Pathfinder/d20" category? Since they are not going to be quite *that* different as far as the result of converting them into a roguelike. Of course Incursion is very clearly pure D&D, but still, the point is just to guide people towards stuff they might be interested in, and they can further dissect entries through their individual pages! --Kyzrati (talk) 13:43, 19 August 2023 (UTC) |

Formatting of multiples
Some IP's have multiple roguelikes derived from them and some roguelikes list multiple IP's as inspirations (though in that case it's usually easy to tell which inspiration is the strongest). I have to wonder if there's a better way to format this, such as listing an IP or roguelike multiple times in their columns. It could also be useful to make a category for this since a roguelikes influences are typically listed in their game templates. --HexDecimal (talk) 11:26, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
- The original intent behind the page was to list those with specific major influences, not be a comprehensive list of every influence for every game, which just gets complicated and can indeed be found on individual game pages. It's to show those which are clearly *primarily* based on a specific IP, and facilitate searching for them via a single IP-first list, since nothing like that existed before this page but it's a fairly common question in the community. --Kyzrati (talk) 13:23, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
